"Great things never come from comfort zones"
Sometimes things in life just come together at the right time, the right place and with the right people.
Running my very first marathon, which has been on my sportive bucketlist for many years, in the city where you're born and raised is a milestone for life it self. But to be able to undertake this once-in-a-lifetime journey together with such a group of passionate people is a true gift.
Connecting with Casper Runners last October 2018 opened up my eyes. A group of people with a strong dedication for sport, but with a much stronger purpose: fighting against pancreatic cancer, unfortunately the #2 fatal form of cancer in our country.
Prof. Dr. Casper van Eijck is founder of this inspiring foundation and working on revolutionary research against this form of cancer. Raising awareness around this disease is one of the goals of the sportive initiative Casper Runners, lead by Xander van Iperen. But secondly, collecting money is necessary for being successful on the long-run for this extensive research project.
More information about the foundation you'll find at https://www.supportcasper-acties.nl/
There is a possibility to donate something, if you feel the same connection with this inspiring foundation.
I'll be thankful with every single donation.
Today it's the 7th of March which means it is exactly 1 month before the official "race day" at the 7th of April 2019. It has been an amazing journey so far, but the best is yet to come. Running the marathon is not the distance you must conquer, but it's yourself. It's desire, determination and dedication. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but that's where you grow...
A special thanks to Xander van Iperen and Martin Naaktgeboren who invited me to this team.
The marathon is more than race. It's a state of mind that says: Anything is possible.
